Agua is a seafood restaurant (that does a lot more than seafood) rooted in Italian tradition and inspired by Peruvian cuisine. If that was a bit of mind-boggler, do not worry, you are not alone. Was this confused eatery any good? Time to find out...
Ideal for:
When you are looking for something fancier
Dinner with friends or date night
Pasta people
Ambience & Décor
I ended up going on a Friday night and it was a very boisterous atmosphere, total antithesis of the more reserved Agua décor of white walls and light-coloured furnishings. Overall, it was a great vibe. Agua tries to be classier than the average place, and with its minimalist décor, it feels premium.
Service
The service was nondescript, but on a busy night, it did not creak, which is a testament to Agua.
Food
Simple is best sometimes, and I wanted to try the Tagliolini with Sage Butter and Truffle (see left). I am a massive truffle fan, so I was excited. The dish looked simple, but it tasted good, but I would have liked more sage butter. I had to pad out the dish with a side of mushrooms that I was not expecting. I ordered a side of Lobster Mac & Cheese that was not creamy enough for me, but tasted good and had a nice crumb, nonetheless.
Overall, I think I chose poorly at Agua. Whilst the simple dishes did not lend themselves to culinary skill, I nonetheless expected them to be done better. I will return to actually flex Agua’s culinary muscles. For now, it gets a C rating.

Final grade: C
Final comment: Risk of style over substance, but I look forward to be proved wrong.
