Having given Agua a C earlier in my blog, I knew there would be some hidden gems – call it my gut feel. So, I went back there for dinner again, to see if I could unearth anything. Was it any good? Time to find out…
Ideal for:
When you are looking for something fancier
Dinner with friends or date night
Pasta people
Ambience & Décor
I have always liked the classier vibes from the interior of Agua, and tonight was no exception. Seated in the middle of the restaurant meant it was a lively atmosphere but did not prohibit conversation.
Service
Service is generally good here, and tonight was no different. Waitress suggested a delicious ravioli main dish.
Food
I opted to try the Black Garlic Ravioli (see left) and Homemade Pici. The ravioli was sublime. Perfectly cooked pasta with the flavour and spice emanating from the spicy Italian sausage interior, tempered with the sweet and tangy Mascarpone Cheese and earthly rustic tones coming off the wealth of Shitake Mushrooms and the punchy flavour from the Black Garlic. It tasted better than it looked. Contrast, I felt the Pici was a let-down. The Duck Ragout, Fava Bean and Pecorino Fondue should be a lovely combination, but the ragout was too salty, and I couldn’t really taste duck or fava beans and the fondue was not a fondue – more like congealed cheese in patches. I think they needed a stronger base sauce on this to complement the subtlety of duck.
Agua is getting better each time, and I wanted to find a gem, and I did in the Ravioli. For the price you pay and the overall standard of food, this was a marginally better than before and as such Agua gets a B rating.

Final grade: B
Final comment: Getting better on finding the gems but still needs its “wow`’ moment.
