The hotels are a good spot for food in the Cayman Islands, and the Marriott has undergone a culinary transformation in the last few years to compete with the other hotels. Was it any good? Time to find out…

The ground-floor foyer area is where the dining is situated, and the large, open-plan nature makes it a very comfortable space to dine in. Anchor & Den try to add some seclusion with some billowing, white, semi-opaque partitions for the larger tables, which is a classy touch. The relaxed vibe was perfect for dinner.
Service
Our waitress was friendly and sweet, and this trait, to some extent, counteracted her seemingly inexperienced nature.
Food
Kept it to 2 courses: Short-rib Mac’n Cheese (see left) and Fried NY Cheesecake (see below).
My mac & cheese was nice but not creamy enough, and the short rib was lacking in flavour, and this became more evident the more I ate. I am a sucker for mac & cheese, so I finished it, but wanted more cheese, flavour and more breadcrumbs to give the dish added texture. Contrastingly, my dining companions Lobster Quesadilla was amazing and the one worth ordering.
The cheesecake was better, but again, not without fault. The cheesecake was a tad overdone and hard and it is tough to eat a cheesecake ensconced in a spring roll elegantly. The crumble, strawberries and compote were needed to give the dish some added flavour and texture depth, to an otherwise tame dish. Once again, my companion chose the better Salted Caramel Ice Cream Jar, that was not only more aesthetically pleasing but tasted far better. Maybe she should have done this review…
Overall, the food blew hot and cold, from the amazing to the average. The dining vibe is very enjoyable, and the quesadilla tells me Anchor & Den has better menu offerings, so I give this place a slight, above-average B- rating.
