American restaurants are always good fun with their boisterous vibe and their homely, wholesome food. Big Easy is touted as one of the best, but was it any good? Time to find out...

Upon entering, you immediately notice chefs vigorously cooking and shouting, staff running around perpetually and the patrons in a raucous mood. To add to the already buzzing atmosphere, a live band was belting American classics such as Superstition and Jailhouse Rock to name a few. The good vibes are infectious and you feel happier.
Service
The waiters were moving at incredible speeds on a packed Friday providing a great cardio workout. Service was not punctual, but it was good enough. I didn’t feel overly neglected.
Food
The Pit-Smoked Bar.B.Q Chicken Wings (left) were flavoursome with the smoky texture coming from the cooking method. The BBQ sauce was not too sweet with enough coating without being over bearing. The accompanying Ranch Dressing was a good complement. If I had to be critical, the price for the four modest sized wings was steep.
The Pounder (right), Big Easy's signature dish, is approx. 500g of lobster and side fries. Whilst looking appetising, the meat was rubbery at points. The side fries lacked salt, so dipped them in the garlic butter for flavour. This course was perhaps a by-product of the necessity for a quick turnaround. The overpowering mature cheddar in the Aged Cheddar Mac ‘n’ Cheese side dominated the taste. I prefer mild cheddar, but those who are strong Cheddar aficionados, will love it.
I can see the massive appeal of Big Easy. The boisterous vibes, slick service and decent food & beverages leave diners feeling content. However, for a gastronome, I found fault with every course. For £34, I question the value for money. It is a shame to see London prices and portions at an American restaurant. For the overall experience, B- rating.
