Craft Food & Beverage Co. (Cayman)

Updated: Dec 25, 2023

Craft is Cayman’s attempt at a Gastropub – where the alcohol and the food are meant to be always evolving and equally amazing. Was it any good? Time to find out…

Grilled Steak with Fettucine

Ideal for:

  • Casual dinners out with friends or partner

  • Cheap drinks during Happy Hour

  • Bailey's Espresso Martinis

Ambience & Décor

With the range of drinking places in Cayman, Craft is not a hotspot, so it has always been quiet when I have gone with a forgettable, lowly-lit, wooden interior. You do not come here for the ambience and decor, and its proximity to the road can be off-putting for outdoor dining.

Service

Service here has always been friendly – the staff are always accommodating, chatty and welcoming. They do like having banter without being intrusive.

Food

Grilled Steak with Fettucine

First place to start – the Baileys Espresso Martini. Hands down one of my favourite drinks on island. The Baileys really gives an upgrade to what is already an amazing drink. Only drawback is that I can easily have 10 of these!

I have had a selection of their food, and all of it has been good! The Grilled Steak with Fettucine (see left) is something in hindsight you can make at home, as it is only basil pesto, steak, cream, cherry tomatoes, and parmesan, but it is a crowd-pleaser.

Taco Salad

The Taco Salad (Grilled chicken, avocado, pico de gallo, ancho cream, cheddar jack, black beans, crisp greens, tostadas) (bit harder to do at home) (see right) is a truly delicious salad in large filling portions – I love American sizing sometimes, albeit is not aesthetically pleasing. I have heard rave reviews of the Moroccan Chicken Pita (Moroccan spiced chicken, onions, tomatoes, garlic mayo). Craft pride themselves on the Canadian classic poutine, (cheese curds, fries, gravy), and it is fantasticyet another pleaser.

In a menu full of crowd pleasers, Craft does not disappoint on the food front, nor cocktails. Since I do not drink craft beer, cannot comment, but the selection is worthy of the name, Craft, and in general, a worthy gastropub – solid A rating.

Photos of Craft and more can be found on Instagram here.

Final grade: A

Final comment: Tasty, crowd-pleasing dishes at a relatively affordable price.
