Las Vegas was a cornucopia of themed food places. In the New York-New York hotel was the Greenberg Deli, selling classic NYC sandwiches in a Greenwich Village themed setting. Was it any good? Time to find out…
Ideal for:
When you are famished from a day of gambling and hitting The Strip.
When you want an authentic NYC sandwich but cannot reach NYC.
Those times when you want good quality pastrami.
Ambience & Décor
Greenberg Deli was established in the 1920s and the décor transported you to those times. It was a very authentic, faultless setting, with meticulous attention to detail. The only modern tweak was the pastrami slicer, which I suspect was a welcomed tech upgrade.
Service
The service was erudite, professional, and quick. More charm wouldn’t have gone amiss, but then they were working long hours in a Las Vegas hotel.
Food
I opted for the Sam & Emma’s, which was a sandwich filled with pastrami, roast beef, turkey, Swiss cheese and thousand island. It was a gargantuan sandwich but every aspect of this sandwich I could identify and collectively it all tasted fantastic. It was not a case of too much. The pastrami was indeed the highlight, being so succulent. I loved the tang from thousand island, and cheese just made everything better. $12.50 did seem steep for such a sandwich, but we were in Las Vegas, and the sandwich was top quality, so for that reason Greenberg Deli gets a solid A rating.

Final grade: A
Final comment: Was a delightfully themed NYC deli that nailed the authenticity.
