Hakkasan (LV)

Updated: Feb 6

After I visited the original Hanway Place location in the mid 2000s, and being blown away, I have always had a special place for this restaurant. Whilst the LV location is not Michelin-starred, was it any good? Time to find out…

Truffle Lobster Noodles

Ideal for:

  • When you want authentic Chinese food with a Western twist.

  • Having that intimate, dimly lit, romantic, date night.

  • Some of the best seafood Chinese dishes.

Ambience & Décor

The décor of this Hakkasan mirrored those in London. The light-dark contrasted colour scheme came from the plethora of dark mahogany fixtures and light-coloured chairs and wall furnishings that were illuminated with spotlights. The décor was classy. The ambience was perfectly serene for date night.

Service

The service was akin to a fine dining establishment and was a real bonus. The waiter was helpful, effervescent, and smooth.

Food

Hakka Basket
Hakka Basket

We started with the Peking Duck Bao, and this was scrumptious and aesthetically amazing. The perfectly black spherical baos with gold leaf atop and black Ossetra caviar garnish was moist, the duck filling was generous and divine.

The Hakka Basket (see left) was dim sum that contained king crab, langoustine, and wild mushroom & truffle. Another aesthetically pleasing dish where the highlight was the mushroom & truffle because there was so much truffle. You could also taste the freshness of the seafood.

Mongolian Lamb

For mains, we opted for the special of Mongolian Lamb Stir Fry (see right) which was a special. The Mongolian sauce was spicy with a hint of sweet, and the lamb chops were perfectly seared, seasoned, and cooked.

The pièce de resistance was the Lobster Truffle Noodles (see above). This was Spinach egg noodles, mushroom broth, lobster, shaved truffle. Writing this made me salivate. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the mushroom broth just married with the noodles effortlessly. The lobster butter that seeped into the noodles was an added treat. The lobster itself was plentiful and poached gorgeously in butter. The shaved truffle packed a punch and really elevated an already magnificent dish. There was a smattering of beansprouts to give that crunch and whole mushrooms to accentuate the earthy tones. This dish was proof that you do not need to throw a plethora of spice, chilli, and flavour to make a dish taste good. All the dishes at Hakkasan Las Vegas were nigh on faultless and this experience was a gastronomic masterclass, that you do spend a pretty penny on. Despite this, I am giving Hakkasan an A+ rating.

Final grade: A+

Final comment: Hakkasan’s Michelin standards have been brought to Las Vegas! Wow!
