Le Dame De Pic (London)

Updated: Dec 25, 2023

To mark special occasions, I love going to special restaurants, and for me, that usually means Michelin dining. Anne-Sophie Pic is unequivocally the world’s best female chef right now, and have been dying to her London eatery, Le Dame De Pic. Was it any good? Time to find out…

Ideal for:

  • Having dinner with a ‘wow’ factor

  • A fancy meal after pay day

  • Special date night

Ambience & Décor

Set in the gorgeous Four Seasons Hotel, Le Dame de Pic’s interior is one that is quite refined. The contrasting white walls, mahogany fixtures and red leather gave a “nouveau riche” feel with the ostentatious mirrored columns everywhere letting you know this is a fine dining establishment. I personally like these contrasting interiors as it looks classy especially with dimmed lighting.

Service

French and Michelin are bywords for quality, and this was no different. Service was exemplary. The staff explained all courses and the raft of amuse bouche with their customary smile. Service at French Michelin eateries are tough to beat.

Food

Excluding the amuse bouche dishes, decided to splash out on a full 3-course.

It must be noted, the earthy vegetarian amuse bouche using mainly mushrooms prepared multiple ways was an inspired culinary stroke of genius.

Started with the Scottish Langoustine. The langoustines were perfectly cooked and tasted so fresh. The Bouillon infused with pine tree buds and geranium was subtle as it was designed to complement rather than overpower the langoustine, but the shellfish butter on top was divine. The butter, langoustine and bouillon was a culinary masterclass. The heirloom carrots in their beautiful arrangement seemed comparatively boring but added flavour, texture and depth to the dish. Carrots and seafood should not really work, but Pic delivers a great pairing.

The mains of Suckling Pig continued the fantastic journey. The pork loins were marinated in Portobello beer and chamomile, served with Celeriac in brown butter, spiced apple (served as a ribbon) and Vietnamese coriander. The pork was again beautifully cooked to the point of melting in the mouth. The marinade was bonkers but somehow it all came together

The accompaniments, all individually brought something to the party, but together all complemented the pork exquisitely. However, the stunning main was the Venison and Foie Gras. Mine was a 9/10, but the Venison was a 9.5/10.

Anne-Sophie Pic’s trademark dessert that she has made her own is The White Millefeuille

Made with Tahitian vanilla cream, jasmine jelly and Voatsiperifery pepper foam, this is a sublime dessert that I will not forget in a hurry. Perfect crisp layers, stunning vanilla cream encasing the dessert and piped within the layers and a pepper foam that packs an insane punch but works in perfect tandem with the rest of the dessert.

The genius of the creator is in full view in this dessert, and one that is not only visually stunning (especially when you examine the cross section upon cutting) but a palatial powerhouse. I think an added brilliance of this dish is that it is wonderfully light and a delightful palate cleanser. I was purring after each bite, and by the last morsel, I ran out of superlatives

As the brainchild of the great Anne-Sophie Pic, Le Dame de Pic had a lot to live up to. Each course was a culinary masterclass, amazing amuse bouche and it all ended with the queen of desserts. This 1 Michelin Starred colossus can compete and even better its 3 Starred counterparts. A delightful, wonderful and unforgettable dinner that was befitting the special occasion I was there to celebrate. One of the easiest A+ ratings.

Final grade: A+

Final comment: One of the best Michelin dining experience to date. A must try!
