Lloyd’s Smokehouse is the only proper BBQ place in the Cayman Islands, and I love brisket, sausages, and every manner of slow-cooked meets with decadent sides…. Was it any good? Time to find out…

Ambience & Décor
This place looks like a typical dive bar with sports memorabilia, TVs showing nothing but sports, quirky signs everywhere, with the occasional neon lighting fixture thrown in… oh and the low lighting, plethora of wood and linoleum. All stereotypes ticked! It is always got a great vibe inside – given the uniqueness of the place on this island, it is always busy and lively – sometimes too loud.
Service
The service can be hit and miss here. Some days you feel like you are the only table in a place that is always packed, and other days, I feel you can walk off without paying and you would be home before they realised.
Food
The main event. Walking and smelling past the beautiful smokers on the way in tells you are in for a tasty, if not fatty and greasy, treat. I have tried all things, but the 8-10 hour smoked, BBQ ¼lb brisket (see left) and ¼ smoked sausage are sublime accompanied by an exquisitely cheesy macaroni and cheese (see left), crispy onion rings (see left), charred broccoli, and creamy mash potato. Just when you think a place like this cannot do dainty, there is a delicious Flame Seared Lamb Loin Chops with a lot of rosemary and garlic seasoning and delicious mint sauce. So tender! It whets my appetite just writing about it... This kind of food is my absolute favourite and Lloyds smashes it.
For an over-priced island, this is also cheap. Would give it an A+ if it was not for the variable service and raucous ambience. Overall, a solid A rating.
