Authentic restaurants are tough to come by on the island and when I heard there was a genuinely authentic ristorante near me, complete with authentic wait staff, I was excited. Was it any good? Time to find out…

Ambience & Décor
Pappagallo has a stunning lake in its backyard, so the alfresco dining looked very intimate and romantic with the fairy lights and was a good outdoor space. Entering the venue, you have a nice man-made waterfall to greet you and looks beautiful. Interior was more rustic and less aesthetically pleasing, but the ambience was fantastic given the high ceilings.
Service
Our waiters were all authentic Italian gentlemen from a bygone era and were such a delight. This authenticity made this dining experience fun.
Food
Portions were large for all dishes, and they all tasted so good. I personally went for the Ravioli all’ Anatra (spinach pasta filled with roasted duck, mushroom cream sauce, toasted pine nuts) (see left) and was the highlight. Feeling gluttonous, I orderedcharred broccoli and garlic mashed potatoes. The meaty taste of the duck was complemented by the earthy mushrooms, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The sides were amazing; the garlic was flowing through that mash. The Cacio e Pepe was also tasty with a tuna tartare garnish a USP. The tiramisu was the icing on a perfect meal. The dessert was totally faultless. Everyone enjoyed their meal and drinks, but my cocktail was disgusting, so bring the rating down to an A rating.

Final comment: Some of the best food, hearty portions for good value. Must try.
