Peppers Bar & Grill (Cayman)

Updated: Feb 6

Jamaica is a short-haul flight from Grand Cayman, so it is no wonder Jamaican cuisine is prevalent on the island. Peppers is one of the biggest hubs for authentic Jamaican cuisine, but was it any good? Time to find out…

Jerk BBQ Chicken, Sweet Potato Fries, Coleslaw

Ideal for:

  • A pre-Friday night dinner that has the vibes to get you in the party mood.

  • When you have a big appetite and craving hearty food.

  • Having a dinner out if you are on a budget.

Ambience & Décor

Peppers décor was akin to a glorified beach shack, with a palm-leaf roof, and a medley of wood, stemming from thick planks that made up the floors to the rustic weathered wood that made up the furniture. Cheap and cheerful with low maintenance was the relaxed style Peppers embodied, and it had the relaxed vibes to match. It was always a fun place to be.

Service

Whilst it may have the shack décor, Peppers was not small at all, and it was a testament to the staff how much ground they covered and served so quick.

Food

Jerk BBQ Chicken, Sweet Potato Fries, Coleslaw

It would have been criminal if I did not go for the authentic BBQ Jerk Chicken with Sweet Potato Fries and Peppers Coleslaw (see left). I can see why people raved about Peppers’ food. The chicken was moist inside, with the delicious, smoky, spicy Jerk seasoning tempered perfectly by the sweeter, stickier BBQ sauce. Each bite was delicious. The Sweet Potato Fries were perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, with a generous portion for the price. The coleslaw was also good without it being anything to shout about. For the price that I paid, I was impressed and stuffed, and for that it was an easy A rating.
