Fremont Street is the other part of Las Vegas that is often visited, and just off this vibrant street, tucked away on a quieter street is one of the most popular Pizza places in Las Vegas, Pizza Rock. Was it any good? Time to find out...
Ideal for:
When you fancy eating American sized portions for dinner.
Watching sports, having a beer, and eating some food.
Coming with your mates for a casual group meal.
Ambience & Décor
Pizza Rock was noticeable with its big, red, lit up “Pizza Rock” sign surrounded by mock flames. Those flames reminded me of Hot Wheels miniature muscle cars. The same flames were embossed on the cab of an 18-wheeler that was placed inside, giving the impression that someone had driven the truck straight into Pizza Rock. The was the only highlight in an otherwise black, monotone interior, that was occasionally lit up from the glare from the numerous TV screens. Ambience got livelier as the stay went on, but I can imagine this place totally rocking on a Superbowl Sunday. Tonight, it was tamer.
Service
The waitresses were all wearing the same black colour scheme as the restaurant. Our waitress was friendly, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Food
The Little Italy (see left) was Mushrooms, Pepperoni, Red Onion, Roasted Pepper, Italian Sausage. Mentally, I had not prepared for how big the pizza was. There was nothing “Little” about it. This pizza could easily feed a family. Nonetheless, made a good dent, more out of hunger, than due to exceptional taste. Whilst we could see and taste the ingredients which were yummy for the most part, it was too greasy for me, and had the classic problem all large pizzas face – crispy on the outside, but soft in the middle. Americans loved their pizzas like this, hence the smashing reviews no doubt, but for more refined palates, this would not be our idea of pizza heaven. I suspect the fat and grease from the meats also did not help the cause, but it was cheap. Overall, Pizza Rock gets a C+ rating.

Final grade: C+
Final comment: Decent pizza by American standards, but not by European standards.
