Locally sourced seafood and produce was a common theme for many restaurants in the Cayman Islands, but U’nique are trying to live by their name by offering a twist on what is out there. Was it any good? Time to find out…

Ambience & Décor
Even though U’nique was near the main road heading into the city centre, the restaurant itself was tucked away and it created a secluded vibe and intimate setting. Stepped in, with the fairy lights and sleek, cosy interior, it is a perfect date night setting. The ambience was also sedated too.
Service
The service was very attentive, and she was so friendly it was a pleasure. Made some great service.
Food
Garlic Shrimp was doused in plenty of garlic, chilli, and white wine, and even though I didn’t eat it, it was given high praise. The crispy chicken special I sampled was served on a thyme and pumpkin risotto, lemon & parsley dressing. The chicken had a lovely spicy glaze which was crisped up. Chicken was moist with the spice from the chicken tempered by the sweetness of the risotto and the zest of the dressing was a vibrant twist. I loved it. My NY Striploin (see left) was cooked to perfection, succulent and well-seasoned. The charred broccoli was good but the smoked mash potatoes was nothing short of ingenious and delicious. Everything was tasty, good portions (but not if you are starving), good value and importantly unique to anything else I have eaten at similar places. However, since this review, U’nique have condensed the menu, constantly change it, and both quality and uniqueness has suffered as a result. Therefore, an A rating.
