Yoshi Sushi is the most popular Japanese place in Cayman. The menu is meant to be expansive, the drinks extensive, the vibe attractive, but all not too expensive. Was it any good? Time to find out...

Ambience & Décor
Yoshi Sushi’s interior replicates 1920’s Chinatown gangster vibes with the dark décor and a touch of authenticity with some of the seats enabling you to sit in the Sukhasana pose (sitting on the floor), which is said to aid digestion. The dimmed lighting also created an intimate date-like feel, but it was always packed in here.
Service
Service has consistently been rapid and efficient, although the last time, I did feel we were forgotten, but that is one rare instance in an otherwise faultless showing.
Food
Having gone numerous times and tried a variety of dishes across the menu, there are some highlights. The Ginger beef on Crispy Noodles (see left) may be an appetiser but it’s a main meal portion and it is heavenly. The beef is sizzled perfectly without ever being tough and the ginger-soy-chilli sauce is lovely. The Pork Tonkotsu (see left) is also delicious – I love the spicy sauce that comes with this. From a sushi perspective, the classic California Crunch (Crabstick, cucumber, avocado w/ crispy tempura on the outside) and the not-so-classic Hog Tied (Salmon, Bacon bits, Cream Cheese, Avocado top w/ sweet chili sauce and Green Onion) if you want something a bit out there. There are so many notable mentions, all done perfectly, and hence for me it’s a slam dunk A+ rating.
